Employment Opportunities for Child Services
"There's a lot of guidance, but room for a lot of creativity too..."

We work with children who have mental retardation, autism, or mental health problems. We work in their homes, when they are not in school, so the work is usually part-time, mid-afternoon, early evening, and occasional weekends.

For your work with the children, we offer a competitive hourly rate. We currently provide benefits for full time employees which includes health insurance. We are currently working on making health insurance more available to part time employees who work more than 20 hours per week. Stay tuned.

During your first six months of work, you will have to complete about 70 hours of training. At the end of this, you will have a Behavioral Specialist I certificate. Training time is paid, but at a lower rate.

When a child is referred to us, one of our team leaders, does an assessment of the child and works with the child's family and case manager to develop a treatment plan. The support worker's job is to follow the activities listed in the treatment plan, with supervision. There is a lot of guidance, but room for a lot of creativity too.
