Clinical Outpatient Therapy

Merrymeeting Behavioral Health Associates

MBHA now offers clinical outpatient therapy. Services may occur either at the main office in Brunswick or in the client’s home. Each session lasts for 50 minutes and can be arranged to be held once or twice per week depending on the client’s need.  The goal of therapy is to assist the clients in constructing a vision of client’s “preferred future”, by helping them identify and address difficulties or problems they face presently in their lives. Through our guidance, clients will examine positive encounters and circumstances in their recent past difficulties and retrieve the attitudes and tools that led them in responding in such a manner. We support them in becoming aware of these specific processes and reinforce the successful incorporation of past skills, so clients are able to move towards the “preferred future” as identified by the client in their goals. Also we assist clients in exploring and gaining a better understanding of their past experiences which can support them in positively progressing with current and future goals or plans. MBHA utilizes cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), solution focused brief therapy (SFBT), person centered therapy and Adlerian therapy as therapeutic modalities to help support clients to psychological, emotional and cognitive wellness.

Alexander Katopis – Clinical Manager

It is with Great pleasure and some measure of pride that I announce the promotion of Alexander G Katopis to the Position of Clinical Manager for Merrymeeting Behavioral Health Associates.

Mr. Katopis has actually been with Merrymeeting for about four years. He initially came to us after receiving his BS in science. He began his MBHA career as a team leader for our Adult program and performed exceptionally well before being admitted into the Masters Program at the University of Southern Maine.

While he relinquished his position as team leader  in order to attend his Masters program he stayed on with us so that he could fulfill his graduate Intern obligations. And it has been my great pleasure as a seasoned LCSW to have had the opportunity to guide this young man during the development of his professional goals.

As of December 2010 he has fulfilled all the requirements in order to earn both his Masters Degree and most recently his License to practice as an LCPC-C in the state of Maine.

Please join me in welcoming Alex as our Clinical Manager. I have every faith that he will excel in this position and that it is our clients who will benefit tremendously from his developing expertise.

Happy ThanksGiving

From all of us here at Merrymeeting Behavioral Health Associates we wish all of you and your families a very Happy Thanksgiving Holiday!
