Freedom is my son at the track as he runs and he spins, Racing beside us laughing and giggling, not caring if he wins.
It is stopping and staring at something that has caught his eye, It is not being embarrassed at others staring as they pass by.
Freedom is David as he merrily trots down the hall,
Unbridled and carefree like a pony released from a stall.
It is not being hindered by what has happened to you,
It is always moving forward while enjoying the view.
Freedom is Hannah blowing kisses to Jesus her King,
And all of God's children with hands lifted high as they sing.
It is not being worried about what anyone will say,
It is the honesty and simplicity of living only for today.
Freedom is Jenny collecting the things she enjoys,
Being grown doesn't stop her from playing with childlike toys.
It is the innocence and purity of not fitting in some mold,
It is not being prejudiced by the color of the hand that you hold.
Freedom is Clayton and the hearts of others he has won,
In showing that with courage and determination, you can overcome.
It is the legacy he will leave as part of God's perfect plan,
It is how his precious life is changing attitudes all across the land.
